Foulridge Garden Competition – Results

Hello Foulridge,

2025 FOULRIDGE GARDEN COMPETITION – RESULTS

Hope everyone had a lovely Bank holiday weekend, wasn’t it the perfect weather for the Rythym and Blues Festival, the bowling competition at the Social Club and whatever you had planned for yourselves.

I am happy to announce that we have the winner and runner up in this year’s garden competition. It was a difficult decision as so many gardens are beautiful for different reasons. However, the top spot is awarded to Yvonne and Tony Heys at Hilltop. They were nominated by a neighbour and I’m so glad she did as otherwise this stunning garden would have remained hidden away from our judging.

It has everything, a vegetable plot, a mini fruit orchard, a Japanese style pond complete with Coi Carp, lovely little seating areas surrounded by colourful borders. Clearly a garden oasis that has been lovingly grown and nurtured over the years but Yvonne still adds little touches like the bicycle she painted two weeks ago and thought would make a great planter! A truly beautiful garden that they devote their time to.

Our runner up this year is Mark Robinson on Warehouse Lane. We did look at this garden last year and he asked us to come back in 2025 as it was newly established and there was more work he wanted to do.

This was quite an awkward little space to work with but the end result is stunning. Planted with several buddleia bushes for butterflies and lots of flowering plants for bees to enjoy. A lovely sitting area for people and the neighbours cat! Adding a grassed area as well when most of us would have gone for an easier option!

One of the reasons for taking the runner up spot this year was because a lot of love and attention has gone into making a gorgeous little garden in an unexpected place.
