Our Village, Council & Residents
Welcome to the Foulridge Parish Council website, created to enable those who use our village, as residents or visitors, to access practical information about the Parish Council, the village and the local area.
Foulridge Parish Council has played an integral part in the life of the village for more than a hundred years. The first Parish Council meeting was held on 4th December 1894 when 120 villagers met to elect a Parish Council.
They originally held their meetings in the school until the Assembly Hall was donated to them in the late 1950s and then became known as the Village Hall.
The nine Parish councillors who are elected every 4 years, all give their time on a voluntary basis and work hard to ensure that the village continues to be a pleasant place to live, work and visit.

THE PARISH
Foulridge, Lancashire
Foulridge (pronounced ‘Foalridge’) is in Pendle, Lancashire, close to the border with North Yorkshire. It is situated just beyond Colne, from the M65 to Skipton on the A56 within easy reach of the market towns of Colne and Skipton.
Alongside the A56 through Foulridge is a large reservoir also known as Lake Burwain where boating and yachting take place regularly throughout the year.
The reservoir feeds the Leeds to Liverpool canal which is where you will find the historic Mile Tunnel and canal wharf.
The wharf is a picturesque stretch of the canal where boat owners can have a cruise, have a drink and meal or just wander up the towpath, taking in the sights. Of particular interest is the large canal side warehouse, sympathetically restored, which is now a café bar, and the Mile Tunnel: A popular tourist attraction.

Elected body of volunteers which have a variety of powers and duties to serve the local community.

The Council meets once a month in the Village Hall, and the public are welcome to attend

The Council aim to improve the local community with specific Projects and Developments.
